Chile creates largest marine park in Southeast Pacific

An area that includes the islands of San Félix and San Ambrosio — also known as the Desventuradas — is now officially protected. On August 24, the Chilean government announced the creation of the Nazca-Desventuradas Marine Park, located 911 kilometers west of the Chilean city of Caldera. Encompassing 300,035 square kilometers (115,844 square miles), it is now the largest protected marine area in the Americas. (Fuente: Mongabay)
